The automated check-in does not appear to handle the discounted resort fee, but as long as you reserved your room in our group you will get the discount.

We waive the play-up fee for players who have previously been rated over 2200.

Since the entry system doesn’t have access to past ratings, you will need to enter him in the U2300 section and send an email to vegaschess@gmail.com asking to move him to the Open section. Be sure to include the fact that he was previously rated over 2200 in your email.

I’d like to sign up my sons for the open section and have a question. My one son’s current supplemental rating is 2287 so signing him up at the normal rate for the open section is a no-brainer. My other son’s current supplemental rating is 2195 but he went over 2200 in a tournament from April 20th of this year and is currently live rated at 2231. Can I sign him up without the extra 200.00 charge for the Open section???

Since you have never played in a tournament, you have no rating. Chess.com ratings do not apply to over-the-board chess.

Entering the beginners section of the National Open is a good way to achieve your first over-the-board rating. In this context, beginner refers to a beginner at tournaments, not necessarily a beginner at chess.

Any player can bring one of their games in the National Open. There is no advanced sign up. In each session games are submitted in the order the players arrive.

Spectators are welcome at the National Open and most of the side events. There may be some limitations due to space constraints.

There will be a chess store with a wide variety of books, equipment, and software.

The youth events do not allow spectators.
